Description

Each summer in Colorado, when the day lilies bloom the swallowtail butterflies come to drink the nectar from the blooms. Their bodies are so large they cover the face of the flowers. As the butterflies are feasting, they are not concern about what is happening around them, so it is easy to take pictures and study their eating habits. I painted this picture with Dr. Ph. Martin Hydrus Watercolor.
