Description
I purchased a potted poinsettia last Christmas season. It stayed pretty for many months. In the early spring, I put it in our master bathroom. It began to lose its leaves but I kept it lightly watered. During the summer months, it sat in the bathroom in a sunny location but continued to slowly drop most of its red petals. In October I began to notice new growth so I gave it slightly more attention. I now have a poinsettia full of new growth. I am not sure how it happened but I am enjoying the happy accident.
I painted these poinsettias on Arches 300 lb. Cold-Pressed watercolor paper with Dr. Ph. Martin Hydrus Watercolors and Daniel Smith watercolor paints.

This is so lovely!!!!! Beautiful shadings and nuance of color changes!!! Congratulations on bringing your poinsettia back, btw!!! I've never had the patience to deal with them. I had always heard that when they come back the following year, the leaves will not be red but green. I tried more than once to see for myself, but always lost patience. Many years ago, I got fed up with the petals / leaves dropping and popped a plant into one of those big green trash cans. We had several, so somehow it got forgotten for weeks. At some point, someone opened the lid of the can and the poinsettia, which was now practically a tree, nearly jumped out of the trash can!!!!! I'm sorry to say, I put the lid back on it and let it go. I wish now I'd taken it out and given it a second chance!!! So, congratulations on your lovely art, but also on hanging in there with your little friend!!!!! l/f t and p
