Description
Here in Maine, the beach roses that grow in the dunes that border the beaches produce thousands of giant orbs of rosehips. These seedpods are produced when the flowers wither on the plant. They are edible. From these red to orange seedpods, some people make jams, jellies, and tea. I had to laugh when I read the Old Farmer’s Almanac. They recommend that you wear garden glove when you are harvesting the pods. From my experience, you wear gloves if you go near rose bushes.
