What a lovely portrait, and your writing to go with it describes very well how it can feel to grow old. The patterns in her dress are wonderful.

Artist's Description

Sally shared that she does not like growing old. There is still too much to do. She wants to drive again. She is a retired school bus driver who also rode motorcycles, raced stock cars, and traversed the back trails of Maine on snowmobiles. While still attending elementary school in a one room schoolhouse in the Nebraska Sandhills, she began painting. For most of her adult life, she lived in the midwest and west. She studied art at Kansas State University, the Canton Museum of Art in Canton, Ohio, and the Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities, Colorado. In Colorado, she studied under Janet Nunn, an award...
