Description
I always admired the handy work of God in nature. But when he made cattails he displayed his sense of humor. Their shape and texture feel soft like a cat’s tail. The distribution of seeds in the fall is amazing when the tight brown tuffs fall apart into fluff and float away on the slightest breeze. Their stalks can withstand strong winds, and their leaves are razor sharp. What I did not know was that they are edible. They considered a survival plant. They grow all over the world near ponds or moist soil.
I painted this cattail scene on Arches 140 lb. Cold-Pressed watercolor paper with Dr. Ph. Martin Hydrus Watercolors and Daniel Smith watercolor paints.
