Artist's Description
Beaker is a wonderful, energetic dog. After nearly ten years he is beginning to slow down enough to be photographed. I wanted to paint him many times, but my attempted reference photos have always been a blur, a tail end, or a distant image. A couple of weeks ago he came to be petted and stayed still long enough for me to catch him looking up at me with his big beautiful brown eyes. I had to paint him.
Beaker was a rejected puppy that was returned in Oklamona and shipped to Colorado. Our son’s family adopted him. He is part terrier and part miniature schnauzer. He can jump and almost fly if he wanted to catch squirrels, rats, or other creatures. Chickens and duck do not interest him at all. About Bonnie Young
Bonnie Young connects to rural life and landscape because they reflect her roots. She discovered the love of painting the light and shadows and their effects on her subjects as she studied nature. While still attending elementary school in a one room schoolhouse in the Nebraska Sandhills, she began painting. For most of her adult life, she lived in the midwest and west. She studied art at Kansas State University, the Canton Museum of Art in Canton, Ohio, and the Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities, Colorado. In Colorado, she studied under Janet Nunn, an award...

Sweet work of this not so angelic doggie! I also have a Schnauzer mix dog and she loves to shake her toys "to death"! My Josie just turned 11 years old and is still very puppy-like!
Bonnie Young replied:
Thank you, Your story on your own dog brought a smile. It sounds like Josie and Beaker have some of the same traits.
