Artist's Description
Time brings change so quickly that it seems that with a wink, the present is gone. My grandson was and is precious, but now he is six feet tall. His expression in this painting speaks a thousand words. I wonder what I said about his precious leaf. Did I see it through a child’s eyes as an object of great value that time had damaged? Or did my adult eyes see only trash? Did I reassure him with knowledge of another season or make light of his dismay? What will I share with him? What will he have learned from my response?
Time, which changes people, does not alter the image we have of them. ̰ by Marcel Proust ̰
I painted my grandchild on Arches 140 lbs. Hot-Pressed watercolor paper with Dr. Ph. Martin Hydrus Watercolors, Daniel Smith Watercolors.
All artwork is original.

About Bonnie Young
Bonnie Young connects to rural life and landscape because they reflect her roots. She discovered the love of painting the light and shadows and their effects on her subjects as she studied nature. For her, painting is an artistic articulation of life captured in watercolor or digital creations. Watercolor allows her to build depth and detail through layering glazes. While still attending elementary school in a one room schoolhouse in the Nebraska Sandhills, she began painting. For most of her adult life, she lived in the midwest and west. She studied art at Kansas State University, the Canton Museum of Art in Canton, Ohio, and the Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities, Colorado. In Colorado, she studied under Janet Nunn, an award...

Such a dear painting of a beloved grandchild. They do grow up so fast yet our hearts ache for them. The bond is special.
