Happy Thanksgiving
I photographed the turning oak leaves while walking along the railroad tracks this fall. I thought Thanksgiving was the perfect time to put up this painting. Painting this was a relaxing experiment. I used my new sword brush, iridescent medium, and paper towel. Some of the shine on the leaves is Winsor & Newton Watercolour Iridescent Medium, and the background texture is from a paper towel.
About Bonnie Young
Bonnie Young connects to rural life and landscape because they reflect her roots. She discovered the love of painting the light and shadows and their effects on her subjects as she studied nature. She studied art at Kansas State University, the Canton Museum of Art in Canton, Ohio, and the Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities, Colorado. In Colorado, she studied under Janet Nunn, an award...

Bonnie, I LOVE this painting!…perfect timing and I also (almost exclusively) paint with a dagger (or sword) brush - it is so versatile and has such balance! Your use of iridescent medium was the PERFECT touch! I can’t WAIT to feature! FAV
