The original lighthouse was completed at Marshall Point in 1832. The present lighthouse replaced the previous in 1857. The Coast Guard maintained and staffed the lighthouse until 1980’s when the St. George Historical Society commenced restoration. When our oldest grandson was visiting this fall, we took him to the lighthouse, and he reminded us about the movie based on Forrest Gump. In the 1994 movie, the character playing Forrest Gump ended his cross-country run at Marshall Point Lighthouse. During our visit to the lighthouse, the sun began to set displaying even more of the beauty in the setting.
I painted the scene with Dr. Ph. Martin Hydrus Watercolors on 140 lb cold pressed watercolor paper.
