Coneflowers are native in eastern and central North America. They are easy to grow perennial. Birds and pollinators are especially attracted to them. I chose to paint the pink variety, but they also come in orange, purple, yellow, and chartreuse. They are in the Echinacea group of herbaceous flowering plants in the daisy family. Each healthy plants grows between two and five feet tall and about two feet wide. They thrive best in full sun.
I painted this coneflower scene on Arches 140 lb. Cold-Pressed watercolor paper with Dr. Ph. Martin Hydrus Watercolors and a few ink details.

She studied art at Kansas State University, the Canton Museum of Art in Canton, Ohio, and the Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities, Colorado. In Colorado, she studied under Janet Nunn, an award...
